But that’s not the full story. The emergency unit had a shorter life expectancy and required more maintenance in year one. The standard new unit would have run for 10+ years with standard maintenance. The emergency fix worked for the immediate crisis, but it wasn’t a long-term solution.
So, Which One Should You Choose?

Don’t choose the standard Bühler process if:

- You need the machine to run for 10+ years with low maintenance. A new Bühler mill is a better investment than a patched-together emergency fix.
- You have minimal in-house maintenance capability for handling potential post-installation issues. (The emergency rig is more hands-on.)
Look, I’m not saying the standard Bühler process is bad. It’s what I use for 80% of my orders. But when that 20% emergency hits, the ability to pivot to an expedited setup is a business-saver.
